Central Coast NSW Info
Location
Just one
hour’s driving north of Sydney, the Central Coast stretches from the
Hawkesbury River in the south to the edge of Lake Macquarie in the
north.
Background
The Central
Coast has long been a favourite beach holiday escape for
Sydneysiders.
Reasons to
visit
 | The golden,
uncrowded beaches of the Central Coast are fringed with wonderful
coastal villages. Virtually every beach has a surf club and surf
patrol, some have more than one. Take a surfing lesson, wetsuits
and boards supplied. |
 | Terrigal is
the cosmopolitan heart of the coast. The village nestles at one
end of its pine tree fringed beach, offering boutique
accommodation, inviting shopping and an enticing range of fine
restaurants. |
 | Vast areas
of natural bushland have been preserved in Bouddi National Park,
Brisbane Water National Park, Yengo and Wyrrabalong National Parks
and along the magnificent Hawkesbury River. Take a kayak tour and
enjoy the drama of sheer sandstone cliffs and tranquil
rainforests; visit a vast banksia forest; or take a guided
bushwalk to visit Aboriginal rock drawings and carvings. |
 | The vast
waterways of Brisbane Waters, Tuggerah Lakes and Lake Macquarie
offer outstanding fishing and water sports. |
 | For a break
from beach and bush, try stepping back in time at Old Sydney Town;
visit the Australian Reptile Park; enjoy a walk in the Forest of
Tranquillity or watch the daily pelican feeding at The Entrance. |
